Analyze the biochemical composition of proteins in rosacea patients using advanced mass spectrometry technology the researchers discovered an abnormality in the production of protective molecules and in the over-abundance of a substance that can spur latent protective molecules into action. “The next step is to test these findings through various therapeutic interventions,” Dr. Gallo said. “As we gain a thorough understanding we can look for new medications that block this process in order to treat or prevent the inflammation associated with rosacea.”
