Acne Treatment During Pregnancy

Our Acne Treatment Is Safe And Secure Without The Side Effects Of Systemic Acne Treatments

“Your doctor or dermatologist may recommend a prescription medication you apply to your skin (topical medication) or take by mouth (oral medication). Oral prescription medications for acne should not be used during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester.” This is what the Mayo Clinic has to say about acne treatment during pregnancy

Based on a naturally occurring immune serum and botanical ingredients that are compatible with living cells, BIOSKINFORTE is a natural acne treatment making it the ideal product to be used during pregnancy. It has no side effects and is the strongest product on the market.

The Mayo Clinic staff further states: “Acne treatments work by reducing oil production, speeding up skin cell turnover, fighting bacterial infection, reducing the inflammation or doing all four. With most prescription acne treatments, you may not see results for four to eight weeks, and your skin may get worse before it gets better.”

The fantastic news is BIOSKINFORTE starts without delay in reducing acne breakouts and healing acne cysts and pimples and produce visible noticeable results swiftly.

The Hormonal dilemma

Hormones wreak acne havoc during pregnancy so what would actually work? An increase in the amount of toxic fluids your body retains and hormone surges are the two things working against you causing breakouts.  The reason children do not get acne is because hormones are responsible for the maturation of the oil glands.

The Specific Hormone That Is Targeted to Reduce Sebum Output

That hormone is progesterone and is more androgenic (male hormone-like) than oestrogen and causes the secretions of your skin glands to increase. Acne usually clears up after the first trimester, as progesterone is produced by the placenta and not the ovaries. The issue is the overload of sebum, this leads to either:

  • A) Forceful outflow of sebum through the sebum ducts to the surface, which may harm the cells lining those ducts and your body responds with inflammatory precursors and swelling, or
  • B) Sebum hardening which also damages the cells lining the ducts. The percentage of omega 3 and mega 6 oils in your diet cause an imbalance and result in the hardening of the sebum. It is imperative during pregnancy to eat foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids such as fish and some vegetable oils.

A boost in the quantity of fluids your body holds onto causes acne due to these fluids which contain toxins. These toxins attract water and swell up leading to “cut off” sebum glands and hair follicles (OW!) preventing sebum flow to the surface of your skin causing zits and pimples.

Antioxidants are valuable and nutritionists love to advise us of how a “detox diet” soak-up free radicals. This diet is full of antioxidant foods getting rid of the unwanted toxins. Dramatic results are anticipated with a reduction in acne evident.

Is Acne Treatment During Pregnancy Different Than At Other Times?

Understanding the root causes of acne needs to be considered and therefore is no different during pregnancy or at any other time.

Why You Should Avoid Drugs As An Acne Treatment During Pregnancy Supervised By A Dermatolgist

Elevated hormone levels during pregnancy can lead to a number of skin changes ocurring, including severe acne. Severe acne can be treated through topical remedies such as our BIOSKINFORTE or with prescription drugs such as Accutane®, Retin-A, and Tetracycline BUT the drugs cannot be used women trying to conceive or by pregnant women.

What are these drugs?

Accutane®: The generic name for Accutane® is isotretinoin. It is taken orally and is a prescription medication to treat acne.

Retin-A: The generic name for Retin-A is tretinoin. It is a prescription cream that is applied to the skin in treating acne.

Tetracycline: is an antibiotic taken orally to treat acne and respiratory infections.

What are the precautions?

  • Accutane®: (Category X Drug Rating by the FDA):  Between 25-35% of infants born to women exposed to Accutane® during the first trimester of pregnancy showed a pattern of birth defects according to the Organization of Teratology Information Services (OTIS). Heart defects Cranio-facial defects and central nervous system defects are a pattern. During pregnancy there is also an enhanced risk of infant death and miscarriages associated with use of Accutane®.
  • Retin-A: (Category C): Less than 10% of Retin-A passes into the mother’s blood stream according to OTIS and even less than that reaches the baby. Retin-A still carries warnings of use by women who are pregnant or contemplating pregnancy even with these findings. It is therefore best to discuss treatment with your health care provider or dermatologist.
  • Tetracycline: (Category D): It appears to cause some reserve of bone growth and discoloration of teeth in a fetus according to OTIS. So, during pregnancy and after the child is born and if you are breastfeeding taking tetracycline should be avoided.

Proving not effective as many skin bacteria are now resistant to it is Erythromycin. It is however the only antibiotic regarded as being safe in pregnancy. It is probably better to avoid all medications during pregnancy if possible nonetheless.

The natural cycles a woman goes through, for instance; pregnancy, menopause and menstruation are the major reasons for hormonal acne.  Doctors often prescribe -dose birth control pills and/or androgen receptor blockers to reduce acne blemishes by keeping androgen hormone levels steady and regular.

Androgen receptor blockers currently in use include :

flutamide, spironolactone, and cyproterone acetate

these are all contraindicated in their use during pregnancy.

Flutamide is in the FDA pregnancy category D and indicates that it is known to harm an unborn baby, and is not indicated for use by women. It is advised not to take flutamide while you are pregnant. It is unknown whether flutamide passes into breast milk so do not take it if you are breast-feeding.

Warning: Do not breast-feed while taking Spironolactone.

Helping to reduce acne breakouts when used in small doses is a steroidal androgen receptor blocker inhibition or androgen expression inhibitor called Spironolactone.  Animal studies (using the maximum human dose level), showed feminization of male fetuses during early pregnancy and indications of endocrine dysfunction in both male and female offspring during late pregnancy that continue into adulthood. It has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA.

Severe Acne treatment During Pregnancy Should Be Supervised By A Dermatologist

Uncontrollable, severe acne needs (almost if not always) powerful systemic medications or therapies combined with topical treatments. Medication can only be prescribed by doctors.

An URGENT visit to a dermatologist is recommended so that you are prescribed medications that will prevent the profound infection going on inside your skin.  A minor surgical procedure may have to be performed draining any boils or deep cysts that have occurred.

Testimonials

“Does wonders for those taking Accutane®

I have struggled with acne all my life but finally by my forties, with care, it was pretty much gone. Then as I approached the end of obtaining my college degree (very late in life!) I was very, very stressed out and sleep deprived. My face broke out horribly. I thought with over the counter stuff it would blow over in a week or two. It got worse and I could not stop picking and digging at it. My face looked almost bloody and was very greasy. The doctor put me on 20 mg of accutane® per day. Accutane® is great and does work but I remembered all the awful scaling & peeling I had. But I had to do something so I dutiful began to take my accutane® knowing it would knock out this acne.

About the same time I was cruising around online I stumbled about the phrase “does wonders for those taking accutane®” or something like that. I tracked it down and came to this website. Oh it all looked too good to be true! I read and read and read some more, checked out every single ingredient, even found another product similar but it had ingredients known to cause acne. I thought it was expensive but I was desperate and I knew I could cancel on my credit card if I hated it. I got it and started to use it morning and night. Within seven days my skin began to calm down. I had very little skin dryness with the high dose of Accutane® I was taking.

It was slow going healing and scar fading because I am older but in two months time you will be very happy like I was. You will slowly get better day by day. Not good for a few days and then set back and then start again. You just keep going. It has diminished scars somewhat but it makes the rest of your skin look so good you look better all over!!! This without a doubt a good healthy product. It should be prescribed or sold with every single prescription of accutane®. This is not just a feel good and smell good cream (I do wish it was unscented though). This is medicinal and will truly help you. It sort of makes your skin whole, not just one part okay and the rest yucky, there is a overall consistency. I was generous with the first jar, every morning and night, now I am just at night. I use it all over my face, right around my eyes and on my throat sometimes. Life is hard enough but facing the world with attractive healthy skin is just one less thing to worry about. Thank from the bottom of my heart.”
